At Hilltop Group, LLC, we’ve always believed that the best tools are the ones that make everyday work a little easier. Sometimes that means finding the right technology for the job. Other times, it means creating something entirely new.
Our Software & Digital Tools division grew from that simple philosophy: when the tools we need don’t quite exist, why not build them?
What began as a way to solve challenges within our own businesses has grown into an expanding collection of practical applications designed around real-world needs. From managing a working herbal apothecary to organizing everyday tasks, our approach is rooted in firsthand experience, thoughtful design, and a healthy appreciation for simplicity.
We believe software should work for people, not the other way around.

Born from the daily needs of a working herbal apothecary, RhizoWorks™ is our flagship software application, designed to bring organization, clarity, and efficiency to herbal practice.
RhizoWorks brings inventory management, formulation records, production batching, equipment tracking, research notes, quality documentation, and more into one connected workspace.
Rather than adapting a generic inventory system to fit an herbal practice, we set out to build something that understands how herbalists actually work.
Currently in private beta testing, RhizoWorks is being evaluated with real herbalists as we refine the experience and prepare for its wider introduction.

Behind the Scenes: Our Creative Workshop
Not every application begins with a business plan. Some begin with a simple question: Wouldn’t it be easier if…?
Our creative workshop is where those questions become working solutions.
Alongside RhizoWorks, we’ve developed several smaller applications to simplify everyday activities, including:
- The Pantry on the Fridge — A household inventory system designed to make managing the pantry, refrigerator, freezer, and shopping lists easier.
- Our Personal Planner — A thoughtfully designed calendar and activity organizer built around the way we actually plan our days.
- Pink Slips — A modern take on the traditional “While You Were Out” message slip, created to simplify communications across multiple businesses and clients.
These are personal and internal tools, not currently offered as commercial products. But they reflect the same philosophy behind our larger software projects: useful technology doesn’t have to be complicated.

Our software development process combines decades of business experience, practical problem-solving, and emerging technology, including artificial intelligence.
AI plays a collaborative role in helping us explore ideas, develop code, troubleshoot problems, and refine our applications. But the vision, design decisions, testing, and direction remain firmly human.
We don’t build technology simply because we can. We build it because there’s a reason for it to exist.
And yes, occasionally, we have to chase a few gremlins out of the code along the way.

From helping develop RhizoWorks™ to untangling the mysteries of our smaller applications, Bobbi is part of our creative process—working alongside human experience, imagination, and a seemingly endless supply of new ideas.
