The latest art project by Michael McCabe: Stained Glass suspended between layers of reclaimed barn wood. The barn wood is prepared using the Show-Shugi-Ban method of charring and preserving the wood. This method is not only beautiful it also prevents decay and protects from insects and should last up to 100 years. The surface is also stained and varnished for additional moisture protection. The totem was 6 feet tall and weighed 40 pounds.
It's such a shame the piece was destroyed by the storm but it is a fine example of Michael's work. Be sure to enquire if you'd like a custom piece.
